Charity Partners 2021

We are delighted to continue working with the 5 nominated charities through our 2021 virtual event and in 2022s Hull Marathon & Relays.  The five local charities would welcome your support in raising vital funds for their ongoing activities and work.  Why not use the virtual event to sign up and support them this year?

They will be present both at the Hull Marathon Fitness & Sport Show at the Bonus Arena in 2022 (date to be confirmed)  and will be present on the day with cheering points along the route and located in the Race Village.

Positivity. Awareness. Understanding. Love

Set up by Paul Spence from his personal experience, P.A.U.L for Brain Recovery is there knowing that people are often left lost, lonely, confused and vulnerable after brain injury. The injury can have devastating consequences which are life changing for everyone affected and for those reasons, there needs to be somewhere to go, a lifeline, a place to obtain comfort, support, education and inspiration.

We work with each service user (and their family) to develop a holistic, person centred care plan that is tailored to their unique requirements. This enables us to celebrate the positive changes they are making in their life, and measure the distance they have travelled on their individual path towards a brighter future.

This support involves helping people regain control of their life after brain injury by giving them a real purpose and hope for the future.

Nurture A Child

If you’d like to join their team, read on for more details and how to get in touch.

Nurture A Child is a charity dedicated to promoting and assisting the development of opportunities for children and young people. We work in tandem alongside existing charities, local authorities, sporting organisations and other partner agencies to identify, create, facilitate and deliver opportunities that are often beyond the reach and remit of existing child support agencies and networks.

Our aim is to improve the confidence, aspirations, life chances and advancement of young people through exposure to education, business, sports, arts, culture and science. In short, it’s an extension of what any parent would do for their own child.

Dove House Hospice

Why should runners choose to represent Dove House Hospice in this year’s Hull Marathon?

As the only hospice of its kind in Hull and East Yorkshire, Dove House Hospice cares for thousands of adults each year that are living with a terminal illness, whether that be Cancer, Motor Neurones Disease or may other complex and incurable illnesses. Whilst we understand that their illness is no longer curable, we focus on a patient’s quality of life and aim to enrich the positives such as their relationships with family and friends.

At Dove House, we provide complete medical care for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year at no cost. We ensure that we go the extra mile for both the patient and their family through our Family Support team, Therapy team and Catering staff to ensure that their stay with us is as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

It costs £8.2 million each year to ensure that the hospice remains open and free to those that need our services. By choosing to support Dove House Hospice in this year’s Hull Marathon, you will not only help us to continue to provide specialist medical care but will also help us to tailor our services to meet the personal needs of each individual.

Here at Dove House, we realise that a hand to hold is just as important as the medical care that we provide that that a combination of both can make a world of difference to both a patient and their relatives. You can help us continue to be here for those that need us most. Website: www.dovehouse.org.uk

HER Breast Friends

Hull & East Riding Breast Friends is the local breast cancer charity for Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. The aim of the Charity is to create a supportive environment for those affected by breast cancer and promoting a positive approach to living with the disease, offering encouragement and inspiration. The services, awareness and support offered includes a Wig Bank, Bra Service Buddleia Complementary Therapies, Patient Gift Packs, Breast Awareness Campaign Team and Craft Club plus much more!

As a small charity supporting local people at a grassroots level we rely very much on donations and fundraising to help fund our ongoing projects, including our signature annual event, The Pink Pamper Day – a free day of complementary therapies, inspiring workshops and lunch for up to 100 local people affected by breast cancer. 2020 is the Charity’s 15th anniversary and if anyone would like to run the Hull Marathon in support of the Charity, it would be just amazing! Every penny raised really will go such a long way to help us to continue to support all those who have been affected by breast cancer and other illnesses.
